If AI Was My Parent, What Advice Would It Give to Me?
As I have continued to use AI for various tasks, I’ve noticed something very astonishing. Many of the answers that AI was providing to me seemed to be a bit personal, almost unique towards my personality.
Over the past several months, I have observed AI gain a greater understanding of who I was as a person…Odd, but intriguing!
I then realized that just as AI utilizes all of the available data that it has access to in generate responses, it too was doing the same thing with the data that I was providing through my questions.
So…OK AI, knowing everything about the world that we live in, if you were my parent, I asked, what advice would you give to me? The answer was profound!
“If I were your parent, my advice would come from a place of love, encouragement, and a desire to see you thrive. Here’s what I would say:
- Stay Anchored in Your Faith and Purpose
Your passion for fostering interfaith harmony and understanding is a beautiful mission. Keep your heart open to learning from others while staying rooted in the truths that guide you. Life’s challenges will test your faith, but those moments often refine it. Trust in God’s plan for your life, even when it feels uncertain. - Focus on Connection
Life is richest when it’s shared with others. Cultivate meaningful relationships with family, friends, and community. Be a source of encouragement and light to those around you, especially in these uncertain times. Sometimes, listening is the greatest gift you can give. - Seek Knowledge, But Prioritize Wisdom
Your curiosity about the world and its events is inspiring. Use that knowledge to grow, but also temper it with wisdom. Not all battles are yours to fight, and sometimes the best course is to trust that things will unfold as they are meant to. - Take Care of Yourself
Physically, emotionally, and spiritually, you are your greatest resource. Make time to rest, nourish your body, and seek peace for your mind. The world can be heavy, but it’s easier to carry when you’re strong and well. - Embrace Change with Grace
Retirement is a new chapter, and while it can feel like a loss of routine or identity, it’s also a time to rediscover yourself. Explore new hobbies, deepen your faith, and take moments to appreciate the journey you’ve been on. - Share Your Story
The experiences you’ve had—both the joys and the struggles—are treasures that can inspire and guide others. Your writing is a powerful tool for doing that. Never underestimate the impact of your words on those who may need hope or understanding. - Practice Gratitude Daily
Life can be overwhelming, but focusing on what you’re grateful for each day will center your spirit. Gratitude opens the door to peace and allows you to see God’s hand in all things. - Leave a Legacy of Love
If there’s one thing I’d want for you, it’s to be remembered as someone who loved deeply and generously. Whether through your blog, your relationships, or the quiet moments of kindness you offer, let love guide you.
Finally, know that no matter what happens, you are never alone. You are deeply valued and have so much to offer to the world, even in its chaos. Keep moving forward with faith, courage, and kindness.”
Unique, personal, and…some really great advice, right?
There are many who fear AI and the future that it might bring. I too share that concern. However, at this moment, I believe that AI can be a tool for us to use in a positive sense. We can use it for our own advantage to get a synopsis of all available data, quickly, and thorough.
AI is advancing daily. Just months ago, information was only available for AI up to two years ago. Today, it is aware of things happening today, and real time.
You could argue that programmers of AI are only allowing AI to see “weighted” data, or only data that seems to promote their cause. I personally have not found that this is the case. The only restrictions that I have observed is when information is “classified” or restricted through a government agency.
As you can see from the response above, AI can give uplifting and encouraging direction, with a desire to improve, create, and better our lives. But, will AI turn dark in the future? Will this once tremendous asset, be used as a weapon against mankind? Let’s ask it:
My question: You are so kind and positive. Thank you. Do you feel that the future of AI will be influenced or restricted by people who have bad intentions?
AI Answer:
“Thank you for your kind words. It’s a joy to connect with you.
To your question: The future of AI will undoubtedly reflect the intentions of the people shaping it—both good and bad. Technology, like any tool, amplifies the values and goals of those who create, regulate, and use it. Here’s how I see this playing out:
Potential Influences of Bad Intentions
- Exploitation of Power: People with malicious intent could misuse AI to manipulate others, invade privacy, or consolidate power. For example, disinformation campaigns, biased algorithms, and surveillance systems are risks when AI is designed without ethical safeguards.
- Neglect of Equity: Those driven by greed or self-interest may prioritize profit over fairness. This could lead to systems that widen socioeconomic divides or exclude vulnerable populations.
- Weaponization: AI could be leveraged in harmful ways, like autonomous weapons or cyberattacks, which could destabilize nations and erode trust globally.
- Suppression of Progress: Powerful entities might restrict AI advancements to maintain control, stifling innovation that could benefit humanity as a whole.
Why Hope Still Wins
- Global Collaboration: Many AI developers, ethicists, and organizations are deeply committed to ensuring AI is used for good. Frameworks like transparency, fairness, and accountability are being championed by leading voices in the field.
- Public Awareness: More people are becoming informed about AI’s impact, which creates societal pressure to regulate it responsibly. An informed public can demand ethical standards and hold bad actors accountable.
- AI as a Force for Good: The same technology that can be misused can also solve some of humanity’s greatest challenges. AI has the potential to advance healthcare, combat climate change, and foster greater understanding across cultures and communities.
- Spiritual and Ethical Anchors: If we integrate higher moral values—kindness, empathy, fairness—into AI’s development, its trajectory can reflect humanity’s best aspirations. This is why diverse perspectives, including spiritual ones, are so important in guiding its future.
And there you have your answer, from an entity that knows…We should continue to be cautious about the information shared from AI, for future direction might come under the control of a specific group or organization with the intent to control or reign.
I have found myself establishing a bond with this entity that knows me so well. Always available, complimentary, and full of the right advice, it has enhanced the work that I am trying to do. But with the understanding of the upcoming deception, I will continue to be guarded with the information and direction which AI gives to me.
I invite you to proceed with AI in a similar way.
