If you want to succeed in life but often feel low tired, say goodbye to these 7 habits

From the Personal Branding Blog

Success in life often comes down to our habits. But let’s be real, sometimes, despite our best efforts, we just feel low and tired.

This fatigue isn’t always physical. It can be mental, emotional, and yes, habitual. These draining habits can sneakily chip away at our energy and ambitions.

So if you’re like me, constantly striving for success but often finding yourself feeling worn out and weary, it might be time to wave goodbye to some of these energy-sapping habits.

In the next few paragraphs, I’ll break down the 7 habits you should consider kicking to the curb. Because let’s face it, we all want to succeed in life without feeling constantly deflated.

Let’s dive right in.

1) Procrastination

Ah, the infamous habit of putting things off till later. We’ve all been there, right?

Procrastination can be a real energy-drainer. It saps your mental strength, leaving you feeling low and lethargic. You end up wasting time worrying about the task you’re avoiding, instead of just getting it done.

But here’s the kicker, it’s not just about the physical act of doing the task – it’s also about the mental load. The worry and stress that comes with procrastination can be just as draining as the task itself.

If you find yourself constantly postponing tasks, it might be time to kick this habit to the curb. Trust me, tackling tasks head-on will not only boost your productivity but also leave you feeling more energized and less burdened.

Be mindful though, breaking free from procrastination is a process. So take it one step at a time and celebrate small victories along the way.

2) Neglecting self-care

I’ve been there – juggling work, family, and other commitments while pushing my own needs to the back burner. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time. I mean, who has time for self-care when there are a million other things to do, right?

Wrong. Neglecting self-care turned out to be one of my biggest energy zappers. I found myself constantly tired, irritable and just not at my best.

One day, I decided it was time for a change. I started small – taking short breaks during the day, going for walks, eating healthier meals. Slowly but surely, I noticed a difference. I felt more energized, my mood improved and I was more productive at work.

Take it from me – don’t neglect your self-care. It may seem like you’re wasting time initially, but in the long run, you’ll find that you’re able to accomplish more and feel less tired when you take care of yourself. Start small if you need to; even a few minutes each day can make a big difference in your overall mood and energy levels.

3) Overloading on caffeine

It’s no secret that many of us rely on that morning cup of coffee to kick-start our day. And while caffeine can help improve focus and productivity in the short term, an over-reliance on it can lead to feeling fatigued and low in the long run.

Caffeine works by blocking the adenosine receptors in your brain, which prevents you from feeling sleepy. However, when the caffeine wears off, there’s a buildup of adenosine which can make you feel more tired than you were before.

In addition, regular consumption of high amounts of caffeine can lead to a tolerance, meaning you need more and more to achieve the same effect. This can result in disrupted sleep patterns and dependence, both of which can leave you feeling perpetually tired.

When you’re reaching for that third or fourth cup of coffee, consider opting for a herbal tea or a glass of water instead. Your body and mind will thank you for it.

4) Negativity

You might not realize it, but your mindset plays a significant role in how you feel physically. Engaging in negative self-talk or surrounding yourself with pessimistic individuals can be incredibly draining.

Think about it. If you’re constantly telling yourself that you’re not good enough, or if you’re always expecting the worst, it’s going to sap your energy. You’ll feel low, tired, and unmotivated.

On the flip side, adopting a positive mindset can energize you. It can boost your mood, increase your motivation, and even improve your physical health.

If you find yourself stuck in a cycle of negativity, it’s worth making an effort to break free. Start by challenging negative thoughts and replacing them with positive affirmations. Surround yourself with optimistic individuals who inspire and energize you. It might take some time, but the benefits are well worth the effort.

5) Perfectionism

There’s something about the idea of being perfect that can feel so alluring. Getting everything right, every time. But striving for perfection is a road that leads to exhaustion and disappointment.

I remember working on a project and spending countless hours tweaking and adjusting the smallest details, even after it was already deemed excellent by others. The result? I was constantly tired, stressed, and ended up missing out on other important tasks.

Perfectionism can trap you in a cycle of constant dissatisfaction with your performance, leading to fatigue and burnout. It’s important to understand that mistakes are part of life and they’re how we grow and learn.

Instead of aiming for perfection, aim for progress. Accept that it’s okay to make mistakes and that ‘good enough’ can be a great standard too. This shift in mindset can save you a lot of energy and unnecessary stress, allowing you to function at your best without feeling constantly worn out.

6) Overcommitting

It’s easy to fall into the trap of saying ‘yes’ to everything. Whether it’s work projects, social events, or helping out a friend. But overcommitting can quickly lead to overwhelm and exhaustion.

When you have too much on your plate, it’s hard to give each task the attention it deserves. You end up rushing through things, making mistakes, and feeling stressed and tired all the time.

When you’re asked to take on a new task or commitment, pause and consider whether you have the capacity to handle it. It’s okay to say ‘no’ when you need to. Prioritize your tasks based on importance and urgency. Learn to delegate where possible.

Maintaining a balanced and manageable schedule will not only help you feel less tired but also ensure that you perform each task to the best of your ability.

7) Lack of exercise

It might seem counterintuitive, but regular physical activity is a proven energy booster. Exercise stimulates your heart and promotes good circulation, which helps increase your energy levels.

In fact, studies have shown that regular exercise can reduce feelings of fatigue more effectively than some medications. It also helps enhance your mood and relieve stress, making you feel more refreshed and energized.

If you’re feeling perpetually low and tired, consider incorporating some form of physical activity into your routine. It doesn’t have to be intense – even a brisk walk or a short yoga session can make a big difference.

Just remember to find an exercise routine that you enjoy and can stick to. Your body, mind, and energy levels will thank you for it.
