You are right. If on a globe we should only be able to see about 3 miles out into the ocean. But with those zoom lenses we can see more than 10 miles.

To see an object, any object, requires light… and light doesn’t curve but rather travels in a straight line. Hence the line of sight. Simply because a telescope enlarges what you’re viewing, doesn’t imply that the line of sight ‘curves’ around the globe. It’s simply false!! If the line of sight can see an object than it is in a straight line distance away. Hence, past 30 miles, portions of the object viewed will begin to disappear behind the curvature. It cannot be otherwise. The fact that they are visible disproves the ratio of curvature that the earth is claimed to be in textbooks. It doesn’t prove it’s flat, because it may be a sphere but much larger than what they’re telling us. It’s easier to disprove notions than it is to prove one.
